PAST EVENTS

Annual Freedom Fund Banquet 2024

The NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet Branch 5124, held on May 11, 2024, was a resounding celebration of the enduring spirit of 'Liberty and Justice for All'. Esteemed Attorney Aaron Watson graced the event as the keynote speaker, imparting wisdom and inspiration. The banquet also shone a spotlight on academic excellence, awarding scholarships to two deserving students from Booker T. Washington High School.

The evening was further uplifted by the melodious performances of the school's Vocal Ensemble, adding a harmonious tribute to the cause. Heartfelt gratitude was extended to the major event sponsors, including Florida Power and Light and Baptist Health Care, as well as MLK Parade Pensacola Inc and other table sponsors, whose generous support made the event a beacon of hope and unity in the community.

The NAACP, or the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is one of the oldest and most prominent civil rights organizations in the United States. It was founded on February 12, 1909, by a group of activists, including W.E.B. Du Bois, Mary White Ovington, and Moorfield Storey, among others. The NAACP was established in response to widespread racial segregation, discrimination, and violence. The Pensacola Branch #5124 stands on the shoulders of these giants in following this amazing legacy of justice.
